Assessing a Child's Best Interest in Domestic Relations & Paternity Cases

Dr. Kathleen McNamara will present an overview of the social science literature on the positive impact of the involvement of both parents on a child's well-being, considerations for assessing a child's best interests related to parenting time, and special considerations during COVID-19. Dr. McNamara will also discuss the importance of including the child's voice when determining best interests and tips for effectively engaging parents. 

OCR will also briefly present on the role of the GAL in CLR and Paternity cases, OCR expectations and policies, and general best practices.

Adoption & R-GAP Subsidies: Practice Tips for GALs

Chris Henderson and Nicole Rust will offer practice tips and strategies for effective legal advocacy in adoption and R-GAP subsidy negotiations. Nicole Rust will also provide an overview of potential rule changes.

OCR Annual Fall Conference

September 14-15, 2020 | OCR Sponsored 


OCR's Annual Fall Conference is currently scheduled for September 14-15, 2020, in Colorado Springs. It is yet to be determined whether this conference can be held live or will instead be held virtually. We know that OCR contractors rely on this conference to satisfy their CLE requirements, and we plan to offer sufficient CLEs regardless of the conference format. We will provide more information as it becomes available. Until then, please save the date!
