A huge thank you to Barbara Tarleton for compiling both videos this week. They turned out amazing and we truly appreciate the time and effort you put into this project for our amazing principals.

SCHOOL NEWS

GODWIN SCHOOL VIDEO
From Ms. Bache:

The Godwin School Staff misses your children tremendously.  Schools were not meant to be empty and teachers were not meant to work from home.  It will be a joyous day when we can ALL walk through the front door of Godwin School and resume learning in the traditional sense.  Who knew we would long for traditional in the 21st Century? Until we see each other again, I hope you enjoy our fun, upbeat video with heartfelt messages from the Godwin Staff.  Be well, be safe, and stay healthy. ~ Ms. Bache

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION
From Ms. Bache:
As you are aware, due to the closure of schools, we were unable to hold the kindergarten screening in March.  As we eagerly await the decision about reopening schools, we have started considering alternatives to the in-person kindergarten screening. I will be in touch as decisions are made at the State and County level.

In the meantime, all parents should have registered their new kindergartner using the "2020-2021 New Kindergarten Registration" link on the Midland Park Website, mpsnj.org. Please complete that registration as soon as possible.  Following the completion of the online process, please mail all of the required documents to Godwin School, Attn: K Registration.

The secretary and nurse are working collaboratively to organize the documents and ensure all paperwork is in order.  We will be in touch with any questions.  Please email me directly at dbache@mpsnj.org with your questions.  Also, please share this with other families who may not be receiving district emails yet.  Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this difficult time.

FAMILY SUPPORT

Support for Alex and Chris Coun
It is with heavy hearts that we inform you one of our MPHS Class of 2021 students has experienced the loss of a parent. Alex Coun's father, Jonathan Coun, passed away last Saturday. Jonathan was a valued member of our Midland Park community and served as an active member of the Midland Park Soccer Association for many years as a dedicated coach and supporter. Our sincere sympathies are extended to Alex and his mom, Chris. It's hard to fathom the loss of a father/husband in any circumstance, but during these uncertain times, it's even more devastating to not be able to grieve with other family members and friends. As a community, we'd like to support Alex and Chris during this difficult time. An account has been set up at Parkwood Deli to provide food for them in the upcoming days/weeks. If you'd like to make a contribution to the account, please contact Heather or Roger at Parkwood Deli at (201)689-0855. Chris and Alex will be able to have food delivered to them or available for curbside pick-up. This simple act of kindness speaks volumes to families as they deal with such significant loss and grief. Every little bit helps! In addition, please keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time.

Support for Jillian, Michaela and Julia Smith
Laura Leone, mom to Jillian, Michaela and Julia Smith has lost her brave 2 year battle with bladder cancer. Laura's "Squad" has been asked by dozens of kind and generous people how best to help the girls. They thought having a little cushion for bills and rent would go a long way to relieve some of the anxiety that will come with setting up their new normal, without the guidance of their beautiful mother. Thank you if you can donate, and thank you for your prayers for the girls if you cannot. Both will go a long way in helping the girls heal and move into the next phase of their lives. Jillian, Michaela, and Julia Smith Go Fund Me Page.

Susan Steccato Memorial Family Foundation
As many of you know, Sue Steccato passed away unexpectedly. She will be missed by so many in the Midland Park community. Sue is the mom of three children, one of whom is a junior at MPHS. Sue was always very involved in the community, scouts, PAPS, and PTA. She was always willing to help out and did so by going above and beyond for anything she was involved in. Sue always had a smile on her face and brought joy to all who knew her. The family has set up a memorial fund to help with expenses for the family going forward and to assist her children. We wanted to pass along the information for those that might like to contribute to help out the Steccato family during this difficult time.
Donations can be dropped off or mailed to:

AROUND TOWN
Although we are all self quarantining, it is evident all over town that we are still "Together." There are many groups that have recently formed around town to help us get through this together:

The Front Steps Project ~ Midland Park
The Front Steps Project was initiated by a photographer in Needham, MA as a way to bring communities together virtually during a time when we are feeling so isolated. The aim is to highlight the faces of our community during a time when we might not see them in passing at the grocery store, coffee shop, at school pickup or at the gym.

In Midland Park, this will help support the MP Children's Love Fund. The families the MP Children's Love Fund supports are especially at an increased risk for food insecurity at this time.

You can 'Join' the Group on Facebook (The Front Steps Project Midland Park) and/or read here for further details. Donations can be sent directly to the MP Children's Love Fund and then please sign up here for a photo mini session.

Midland Park Birthday Parade (Join on Facebook)
Each day (typically at 1PM) you will find cars lined up on a street in Midland Park so that members of the community can wish a homebound child or senior a Happy Birthday! Cars are decorated with balloons and signs and the Midland Park Police Department has also joined. If you are not on Facebook but would like more information please send an email to the PTA (midlandparkepta@gmail.com) and we will put you in contact with the organizer.

The Midland Park Puzzle Exchange (Join on Facebook)
The Midland Park Puzzle Exchange was created for MP Families to exchange puzzles in order to give them something to do to pass the time. The only rules for this group are that you are trading or giving away your puzzles (this is not a sale site) and of course BE NICE! If you are not on Facebook but would like more information please send an email to the PTA (midlandparkepta@gmail.com) and we will put you in contact with the organizer.

Midland Park NJ Neighbor Helping Neighbor (Join on Facebook)
During this unprecedented time, in the best community hands down, help the helper. If there is something you need or have a surplus of please share! Invite residents so we can help each other get through stronger than ever! If you are not on Facebook but would like more information please send an email to the PTA (midlandparkepta@gmail.com) and we will put you in contact with the organizer.

Midland Park ~ Clap for Careers (Join on Facebook)
Clap & make some noise for the health care workers, first responders, grocery store employees, those keeping our public transit running, truck drivers & many more who are stepping up to keep us safe. Every evening at 7:00PM in the comfort of your yard or home! If you are not on Facebook but would like more information please send an email to the PTA (midlandparkepta@gmail.com) and we will put you in contact with the organizer.

Where to Order During Isolation 2020 (Join on Facebook)
