Downtown Stories: First Fridays Artswalk

First Fridays Artswalk in Pittsfield, MA has provided monthly opportunities for local artists to showcase and sell their work, and for the community to view diverse, original art, and speak with professional artists about their artistic process.

But, like every other arts organization across the country, First Fridays Artswalk has had to cancel events and think of creative ways to safely continue bringing art to our community. Thus, the Quarantine Artist Profile was born!

A Thank You to Berkshire Frontline Workers!
Featuring a New Song by Billy Keane

Berkshire United Way and Berkshire Museum have released a video to show appreciation and support for those in the community working on the front lines during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This inspiring video, which can be viewed on Berkshire United Way and Berkshire Museum’s YouTube channels and social media pages, features essential workers in the healthcare field, in grocery stores and providing child care, as well as postal workers, bank tellers, emergency and safety personnel and dedicated volunteers.

Pittsfield singer-songwriter Billy Keane’s new song “Never Give Up,” written while he was in quarantine, serves as the soundtrack for the video. Filmed by a small, masked crew in April, Keane performed his song alongside Winged Victory in an empty Berkshire Museum.

Join Action Sports & Travel for the LAST in their series of virtual ecology courses with SSI's ecology capstone course.

This program provides a general understanding of the complex and exciting science of marine ecology, which is the study of how organisms interact with each other and the environment, the flow of energy through communities, and the link between ocean ecosystems. You will earn the SSI Marine Ecology Specialty certification after completing this program.

Special Digital Course Pricing: $75 (normally $135)
With this purchase you will receive:
1. Permanent access to official course materials through your diveSSI account
2. Official SSI certification in Fish Identification. This can help you earn your next recognition rating, whether it's Specialty Diver, Advanced Open Water, or beyond!

Action Sports & Travel also realizes that not everyone is in a position to purchase classes right now. If you would still like to join them on Thursday, let them know. They will provide you the Zoom link as a gift to our community during these challenging times.

They are also accepting contributions for this class on a pay-what-you-can basis. Even $5 helps.

(If taking advantage of either the free or pay-what-you-can options, please keep in mind that you will not be registered for the course through SSI, will not have access to the digital materials and will not earn the official SSI certification).
