Keeping children safe during lockdown – parents pack from CAPT

With the pressures on the NHS, many parents are worried about a trip to A&E with their child.

The fact that our homes are accident hotspots for younger children is a scary prospect at the best of times.

And sadly less traffic doesn’t mean we can completely switch off about road safety.

The Child Accident Prevention Trust (CAPT) are reaching out to families feeling the pressure in lockdown to highlight easy wins that can keep children safe.

Boost your skills with Digital and Numeracy Toolkits


Digital and numeracy skills are amongst those that are most sought after by employers, and can help you progress in work and boost your job prospects.

Digital skills can be anything from using social media and staying safe online to coding, programming or digital marketing.

You can choose from a selection of high quality courses put together in collaboration with experts. Find a level and time to study that’s right for you. The Skills Toolkit makes it easy for you to boost your skills.

Warwickshire Adult and Community Learning free courses


Warwickshire Adult and Community Learning provide a wide range of learning opportunities for adults (19+) across Warwickshire.

Whilst face-to-face classes are closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they are offering a range of online activities and classes free of charge.

Courses range from an introduction to using spreadsheets through to drawing and painting classes!

Eligibility for government childcare offers protected

Temporary measures ensure critical workers will still be eligible for childcare offers if their income has changed due to Coronavirus (COVID-19).

The Government has announced that any working parent usually eligible for 30 hours free childcare or Tax-Free Childcare will remain eligible if they fall below the minimum income requirement due to COVID-19.

Subject to Parliamentary approval, parents who are critical workers will also remain eligible for these entitlements if their income has increased over the maximum threshold during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Experiences of NHS and social care during pandemic 

The NHS and social care services have had to change the support they offer the public, in response to Covid-19. It is therefore important to understand how these changes are working for people. 
 
Healthwatch Warwickshire and Healthwatch Coventry have conducted a survey in order to check people's experiences and share their views with those who can do something about it, so everyone can continue receiving high-quality and safe support.

The survey should take around 10 minutes to complete.

Barnardo’s are committed to providing ‘Better Outcomes for More Children’ and they are look for volunteers!

Their 2000 Children's Services volunteers help the charity to deliver essential services, providing support to over 300,000 children, young people and their families.

Becoming a Parent Champion provides a great opportunity to join their fantastic children’s services volunteers, who make a real difference to children, young people and their families
