Greetings Comrades. We hope you and those close to you are staying safe and well.

Current circumstances are bringing new and unexpected challenges to everyone.
As you know, Carbon Literacy requires some social interaction and group enquiry to find answers collaboratively. Thank you for being so open to change and adaptation, and to the many of you that have already contacted us to let us know you are keen to progress with distance delivery of CL.

Carbon Literacy Pioneers:
Carbon Literacy Pioneers events are an opportunity for trainers and consultants to network, socialise and to hear about and share Carbon Literacy news and updates. The next Pioneers event will be held via Zoom, announcing resources to support the distance delivery of CL, and feature virtual demonstrations of a range of useful technologies which could help you deliver the interactive aspects of your CL training remotely. The next Pioneers event should be held in the next 2 - 3 weeks, (date and time TBC), so keep an eye out for your invitation email; we hope you can join us.

Included below is the usual summary of the latest news, updates and reminders especially for trainers and consultants.
Resources:
Distance Delivery Forum - We are in the development stage of collaboratively creating best practice and guidance for a new phase of distance delivered CL courses under social distancing rules. To facilitate the sharing of experience and resources, we have created a platform which will soon be opened up to all organisations.

CL Marking Guide - We have developed a guide to provide you with insight into what we look for when processing evidence. We hope that trainers can use this to better facilitate learners in creating their actions, although please note, it is not a document to be shared directly with learners.

Pricing Matrix - We have recently updated our matrix, including introducing a EUR/USD version. Both can be found on the Documents page of the website.

Co-Facilitator - We wanted to reiterate the potential CL resource of being or utilising a co-facilitator. Experience so far indicates that distance delivery requires a higher trainer to participant ration than traditional face to face delivery, and we would encourage you to think about collaborating with other trainers or facilitators to enhance your capacity. This could be to swap leads to allow a change of voice leading the course or to allow the facilitating of multiple smaller discussions in virtual breakout rooms. This kind of collaboration also enables you to gain additional online facilitation experience especially if you are new to distance delivery.  Please contact info@carbonliteracy.com to get involved.

Decarbonisation After Lockdown - If you're looking to update your course content to cover COVID-19, check out our blog. It features a transcripted Christiana Figueres interview on the topic of the green recovery which could be a useful foundation on which to build your “post-Covid” content.

- Trainer Tip of the Month: If running training in separate halves, don't advertise part 2 courses openly, only send the booking link for part 2 to those who have satisfactorily completed Part 1, to avoid individuals turning up for the second half of training without the necessary foundation knowledge to pass. As an example; the CL Project Carbon Literacy Knowledge (CLK) e-learning module purposely allows the saving/printing of a “successful assessment pass” certificate to bring or produce in order to book Part 2 training... :-)
Actions
✓ We have recently made minor adjustments to our Participant Details and Evidence Form, please ensure you are using the most up-to-date version of this and all other Carbon Literacy forms. You can find most of these here on our website.

Please take the time to review our Carbon Literacy Training Code of Conduct. If you were able to attend previous CL Pioneers meetings, you will know that we jointly created them, combining best practice from a variety of training styles, and trainers' own experience.

✓ We advise filling in the session review forms (found here) as good self-coaching practice. This will also assist you if you choose to apply for certified CLF/T/C status.

✓ Please join our LinkedIn group detailed below if you haven't already, it is a great place to converse with other trainers, as well as being a useful resource to post on in if you're looking to sit in on training.

✓ Check out the hashtag #CLresource on Twitter for useful and topical resources which can be used during your training.

✓Below is a useful infographic which can be used during training sessions to reflect the most up-to-date Carbon Literacy statistics

The Pioneers Network
The LinkedIn Pioneers Network group was created to continue discussions and ask for advice, tips etc. outside of the Pioneers Network events. We've started a live discussion about how we can make the trainer network more connected and resourceful so get involved!
