This is the 45th issue of Vicious Shivers,
a (mostly) weekly newsletter for fans of my work. At the edge of our hope, at the end of our time, we have chosen not only to believe in ourselves, but in each other. Today there is not a man nor woman in here that shall stand alone. Not today. Today we face the monsters that are at our door and bring the fight to them! Today, we are canceling the apocalypse!
I took the vast majority of the week off from actual writing. Instead I focused on a lot of little tasks that have been building up around the house, as well as a bunch of writing-adjacent projects (meetings, interviews, bookkeeping, filing) that have been looming over my head. I also worked on opening my web store back up, as you’ll see below, and I started planning a big retailer outreach project. The plan is simple—get all of these things out of the way so I can write like a maniac over the next several days. I have a few calls and interviews already on the books, and I’ll honor those, but otherwise I’m focused solely on writing!

Many of you know I’ve been sending lots of pitches out over the last few months. This week, I received a rejection on one of them (it was too close to something they already have in the works) but I received acceptances on three of them! That’s a fair trade off! Nothing I can talk about in detail yet, but a couple of them are exciting because I absolutely love the format, and one I’m thrilled about because I’m re-teaming with my pal Mark Torres on it! I also signed a BIG NEWS contract this week. Not sure when that BIG NEWS will be revealed to the public, but it is EXTREMELY exciting! Come to think of it, I signed two BIG NEWS contracts. How’s that for teasing you about the future?

Yesterday was my son’s 12th birthday. It’s hard for me to imagine. Bittersweet. I’m so proud of the young man he is becoming, but I certainly miss the baby, the toddler, the little kid he used to be. We’ve called him Squish forever, but he thinks he’s getting too old for that. To some degree, he’ll just have to put up with it, though.  We tried to make this the absolute best birthday possible for him under the circumstances, and i think we pulled it off.

I managed to hurt myself a couple of times this week. I bashed my head against my grill while working on the deck. I have a cut, a bruise, and a knot. I almost knocked myself out. I also managed to cut my finger pretty badly while mounting a shelf to the wall. You know those little spring-loaded mounting bolts? Don’t try to hold those with your fingers while unscrewing them with a drill. That’s your safety tip for the week.

ONLINE STORE

I’ve had my online store closed down for the past several months while I worked out some logistics. I’m happy to say the store is NOW OPEN! And I’ve added some rare items and some cool comic sets. I’lol be adding new items to the store pretty frequently, so keep an eye on it!

HERE it is now!

MISSOURI SWAGGER

This week’s MISSOURI SWAGGER is the weird lost episode, which features dancing and a rare heartfelt apology from Dennis. HERE ya go.

INTERVIEWS

Lots of new interviews this week!

DARK HORSE TWITCH INTERVIEW
