Hall For Cornwall, Plymouth Dance and Dance in Devon have worked closely since 2010 to proactively support freelance dance artists who live and/or work in Cornwall, Plymouth & Devon. As Peninsula Dance Partnership we create a larger scale of activity and a higher profile for dance, strengthening its place in the Peninsula’s cultural programme.
Plymouth Dance and Dance in Devon, in consultation with Hall For Cornwall, included a total of £35,000 cash of their combined bids to contribute towards the Peninsula Dance Partnership COVID-19 Emergency Response to support freelance dance practitioners/companies in the region by providing:
- A minimum of 120 Dance Card Bursaries @ £250 for individual freelance dance artists
- 60 Business Coaching sessions for dance companies with Helen Tiplady, June Gamble or Sue Smith
Dance Card is a tried and tested programme with a track record over the past 8 years of supporting independent dance practitioners with responsive small bursaries to take part in activities relevant to their current situations. This round will enable practitioners to respond to emerging opportunities and enhance/sustain their professional practice at this unprecedented time.
Peninsula Dance Partnership will also support dance companies based in Cornwall, Plymouth and Devon, by offering them business coaching during the next 6 months, to assist them to focus on how they can survive and thrive beyond COVID-19.
