I'll be reading chapters 15-16 of Miss E. today at 3:30. Both are chapters that I struggled to get right. One involves a conversation that's an important step in continuing Bets's story. Dialog heavy writing is not something I feel particularly good at, so the solution came in the form of a stream of consciousness teenage tirade. In the other chapter, I had to somehow manage the task I'd given to Bets - write a meaningful summary of Amelia Earhart's life in twenty words or less. I was helped by drawing on some creative poetry techniques that stuck with me after years of teaching middle school English.
