Stories about the food we don't eat...

Welcome to Issue 27

All of us at the Fight Food Waste CRC would like to say a big CONGRATULATIONS to our participants recognised in the 2020 WorldStar Packaging Special Awards.

Woolworths Australia was the 2020 Sustainability Special Award silver winner for replacing plastic trays with pulp-based trays nationally into all stores for over 50 of their in-store bakery products.

Congratulations to Planet Protector Packaging for taking out the gold medal award in the highly contested Food Design of the Year category for their lobster protector.

The Bronze winner of the 2020 WPO Presidents Award is Plantic Technologies who are part of the consortium for our Save Food packaging project. This is the first time an ANZ entry has ever won an award in this category.

This global recognition is a significant achievement for the Australia and New Zealand packaging industries and for the Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP) who have led the annual Australasian Packaging Innovation & Design (PIDA) Awards program which is the exclusive feeder program for the WorldStar Packaging Awards for ANZ.

Our new ENGAGE project with Woolworths and QUT aims to understand the barriers and drivers to reducing in-store food loss and waste, and to identify opportunities and practices to support change and ultimately reduce food loss and waste instore. MORE >>
