Welcome to Issue #7 of the OpenStreetMap US Newsletter, featuring activities and news from around the US. At OpenStreetMap US, we are finding new ways to build & support community during this difficult time. We are hosting virtual events, leading COVID-19 mapping efforts, and amplifying community projects. Interested in partnering on an idea? Have newsletter content or suggestions? Email me!

Thanks for all that you do to make this such an incredible community. Stay safe!

Community Spotlight
On April 30, OSM US partnered with MaptimeBmore to hold a virtual mapathon to update points of interest (POIs) in Baltimore to reflect COVID-19 shelter in place orders. The presentations from this and other Mappy Hours can be found here.

OSM US  Survey Results

This fall, we held a community survey to provide a baseline and obtain input on future programs. Thank you to all those who participated! Your responses were fantastic and inspiring. This post shares the quantitative results and ideas for future reports. If you missed it the first time, the survey has been reopened.

State of the Map US 2020

The SOTMUS Organizing Committee is committed to having a live event. Should our conference be impacted by COVID19, we will postpone to early 2021 rather than hold a virtual conference.

Now accepting talk proposals! Propose a session for State of the Map US 2020

OSM US Virtual Mappy Hours

We are hosting virtual mappy hours a few times per month. Thanks to our April guests Jennings Anderson, Miles Campbell, Erika Nunez, Steven Johnson, MaptimeBmore, & Missing Maps. Don't miss the May series - sign up today!

Summer of Maps Program

OpenStreetMap US is honored to be chosen as a partner for Azavea's Summer of Maps fellowship program. We will be using the SDGs as a lens to apply OSM data to measure specific social indicators and address civic issues. Stay tuned!
