LEVEL 3 UPDATE - FRIDAY 8 MAY

Dear Parents / Caregivers,

As you will be aware, Cabinet and the Prime Minister will decide and announce on Monday 11 May when we will move to Alert Level 2.

Whatever the announcement on Monday, teaching and learning will continue to be delivered online via Goggle Classroom, for the whole of next week with students learning in their homes.  A small number of students who need to be at school, will continue to be supervised as has occurred this week.  These students have registered with us to ensure we monitor attendance and provide adequate levels of supervision, enabling essential workers to continue their employment.

If, as anticipated we move to Alert Level 2 on Thursday 14 May, the college will open on site for all year levels from Monday 18 May.

From then on, the main method of delivering teaching and learning will be in the classroom face to face with the teacher, with learning material able to be accessed online through Google Classroom for those students unable to attend college complimenting the classroom delivery.

I will communicate further details next week once we have a clear time frame of the move to Alert Level 2 and the implication of this for the ongoing delivery of education for your son.

Alert Level 2 Summary - MOE

The overriding principles for Alert Level 2 are:

  • to minimise the risk that someone gets infected in the first place

  • to ensure we can identify and contact anyone who has been in close contact with a person, if someone in a school or early learning centre is infected

  • understand that Level 2 is not business as usual

If it safe for all students and staff to return to school in Alert Level 2. Schools are safe because hygiene habits will be strong and schools will put into place safe and sensible practice.

Meanwhile, enjoy the weekend, look forward to the lifting of the many restrictions of Level 3, and the opportunity to engage in the many sporting, cultural, and social activities you and your sons will have missed.

Kind regards,

Robert Mangan
Principal
