Greetings Spinners,

Here is this week's "Back in the Day" report...

So my feathered friends, do you think that The Stateline Spinners was one of the early organized group of bicyclists in our area? Contraire monfraire! Check out the flier below:

The day was Thursday May 2, 1996 when members of the Sunrise Bicycle Club went on their 1st and "only" ride which was 12.4 miles which took 44'37" with the average speed being 16.7mph (not bad). The temperature was a "chilly" 35 degrees and thankfully no one got frostbite and our water bottles didn't freeze. The participants were Bill Dorr & LiteSpeed Rick. We met at the SuperAmerica gas station (now Speedway) about 6am and headed out on Colley Rd. and back on Shopiere Rd.

Because of lack of participation going forward the group disbanded but continued to ride individually :)

Keep looking for those emails sent before 2012 if you haven't already deleted them so they can be shared in future epistles.

Here is the new website for Wisconsin Bike Fed that lists many of the rides planned for this season. It remains to be seen how many will be occurring but at least they are on the calendar.
