DEE SC VIRTUAL REGATTA / UKIDA VRGP1
Dee SC invite you to join their Dart18 Virtual Open Meeting on 9 & 10 May, online using RYA recommended Virtual regatta. Virtual Regatta is used prolifically by clubs / sailors worldwide and is great fun and fairly easy to use. No big tech skills required.
How to join the regatta:

1. Create an account
a) USING either GOOGLE CHROME or Mozilla Firefox (not Internet Explorer), log on to https://www.virtualregatta.com/en/inshore-game/ and then click on ‘Please connect’ and then ‘I create my account’.
b) You will need to give an email and password and a Pseudonym ( suggest use your boat number)
c) You are now in and you can access activity including a training programme (best to do that) to get you started and you can join in races by pressing CUSTOM and joining a race (there are lots of races going all the time you can join if you wish).
This video link below from RYA will help you with the setup (ignore the download from apps store if you are using on a PC as you just need to go to the link above.
Post via that group that you intend to race and include
a. Your Name
b. Your boat number or pseudonym that you race under
Please do the above as soon as possible and preferably by close of Friday night so that entries are known and the format for races can be worked out and then published on the WhatsApp group.
3. Schedule
Racing will take place on Saturday and Sunday and the first start on each day will be at 1700hrs. The format of the racing will depend on the number of entries (max 20 per race) so there may be heats etc. This will be published on the ‘UKIDA VR Open Meeting’
The first race opens at 1645 ready for the 1700hrs start.

On Saturday log into Virtual Regatta before the 1700hrs to take part in the UKIDA Dee SC open, as a warning it can take time to actually ‘get in’ so don’t leave it too late.
The first race opens at 1645 ready for the 1700hrs start.
Once in Virtual Regatta inshore press CUSTOM race button and press the green button (with padlock /yacht and 'play icon' on it) at bottom section of the custom race page.
You will be asked for a 'private race access key' , this will be UKIDA + number (to be advised on the day) and this will get you in the game. Further race instructions will be sent via WhatsApp group when we know the number of entries.
If this first event proves to be a success, we hope to roll it out on a more regular basis to ‘replace’ cancelled events. If you have not tried VR sailing / racing it is quite fun and not too complicated. However as with all things a little practice before the event will definitely pay dividends, so we suggest you give it a go before Saturday.
