Staying strong. Staying safe. Staying connected.

CCD collaborates with Muskegon Heights Neighborhood Association Council (MHNAC) for the

The CCD Link Up Committee is all about neighbors being neighbors, and getting to know each other better. With the coming of Covid-19, this can be challenging. Special thanks to our Committee Members Steven Winston and Marquis Childers, Jr. who helped find a fun and friendly way for people to be neighborly while still maintaining a safe social distance. Click on the YouTube image above to hear them talk about the Stroll & Roll, and please share the video on your own social media (at time of this newsletter, already 442 views and counting!). Click on the info sheet above to link to the download for your own Stroll & Roll window sign.

CCD Literacy Committee continues to support Muskegon Heights students
Through the Michigan Department of Education, CCD is an official partner with the Muskegon Heights Public School Academy System. This includes supporting the students through organized field trips, mentorship programs, and staffing the libraries at Edgewood and Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary Schools and the Middle/High School. The schools have gone virtual for the remainder of the school year, but we still find ways to let the students know we are here for them!

In the first image above, that's Edgewood librarian Mrs. Kleaveland with a video hello to the students. Video messages are delivered through the virtual Learning Plans offered by the schools each week. Click on the image (or here) to watch.

The next picture is Middle/High School Media Center librarian Ms. Emmerson, she and fellow CCD volunteer Ms. Moelter-Gray participated in the Class of 2020 Senior Parade, a celebratory drive through the neighborhoods and past the houses of graduates. Thank you Mrs. Garcia for recording the Facebook video that captured Ms. Emmerson!

JUST ADD FLOWERS: Flowers can brighten our day along with our yards. Wishing to add a little flower power to the Stroll & Roll...
YOU CAN HELP SHARE A LITTLE JOY! Please consider supporting the effort to add flowers as a complement to the Stroll & Roll. View the CCD entry on the Community Foundation for Muskegon County Wish List to find out how you can help bring beautiful flowers to the neighborhoods. CCD Beautification, Garden, and Link Up Committees will work together with the MHNAC in yard beautification activities. Thank you for considering the request.

Welcome New Board Members
At the January 2020 board meeting, the Trustees voted four new members to the board. Joining CCD are Marquis Childers, Jr., Samantha Ferguson, Larry Fife, and Steven Winston. Welcome aboard! Two members rotated off the board, but remain active with CCD through committee work: Sue Kleaveland with the Literacy Committee, and Perry Cheathem with the Beautification Committee. We are grateful for their service.
