State Route 13/Buford Highway Rail Crossing will Close for Maintenance
Closure and Detour will be in place -- Reminder!
ATLANTA – Norfolk Southern Railroad will close the rail crossing at State Route (SR) 13/Buford Highway just northeast of its intersection with Jones Mill Road in Doraville beginning Monday, May 11th for track maintenance. This closed rail crossing will require a detour to safely keep traffic away from the work zone.
Weather permitting, the continuous closure is scheduled from 6:00 a.m. on Monday, May 11 through 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13. The detour route diverts southbound vehicles on SR 13/Buford Highway to SR 140/Jimmy Carter Blvd westbound, then to SR 141/Peachtree Industrial Blvd southbound, to I-285 eastbound back to SR 13/Buford Highway. Drivers traveling northbound on SR 13/Buford Highway will be directed to take I-285 westbound to SR 141/Peachtree Industrial northbound, then SR 140/Jimmy Carter eastbound back to SR 13/Buford Highway.
For driver safety while this detour is in place, railroad crossing closure signs, message boards, and detour signs will be placed near the route to alert drivers in advance of the change. As always, motorists are encouraged to wear seatbelts, eliminate distractions behind the wheel, and plan their routes before getting on the road by calling 511 for real-time information on work status and traffic conditions.
