A Mother's Table
Visit our new LFP Family Ministries Facebook Page!

Dear Parents,

In the desert, the Israelites were hungry. They start to grumble against their leaders and fondly remember Egypt sitting around "pots of meat and eating all the food they wanted." I love how God responds to their need. He doesn't offer them a theory or a lecture or reprimand them for not "trusting," he just provides them with meat and bread. Not just for one day, but for 40 years until they reach the land of Canaan.

This reminds me of my mother's table. There was always such delicious food on her table that I found myself dreaming about meals during my freshman year of college. The table of the dorm cafeteria was frankly depressing. This is not to say that father's don't also set a beautiful table (in our house for example, my husband is definitely the gourmet chef).

But it reminds me that God "mothers" his children here, feeding their stomachs before he deals with their theology. They will come to remember that he delivered them from Egypt and that they belong to God (Exodus 16:11) but first they eat.

What meal do you need from God today?  For more on the table here is a beautiful poem by George Herbert.

We are all in this together!

Right Now Media

Right now Media is a free resource offered by LFP that has lots of resources for you and your kids. To gain access go to our website and click on "resources." Then click on "Right Now Media" and sign up for your account. Here are a few of my favorites:

For the kids:
1) The Mr. Phil Show
2) Theo (ages 8-10)
3) Veggie Tales
4) Hermie and Friends (ages 4-7)

For you. I decided to focus this particular list on marriage (lists on other topics coming). Being self-isolated can take a toll on your marriage as we are all together in one house ALL THE TIME. But if things are pretty good right now, you don't have to wait for difficulties to do a "tune-up" or spend some focused time working on your marriage. Here are some resources that could help.

1) You and Me Forever (Francis Chan)
2) The Meaning of Marriage (Tim&Kathy Keller)
3) Your Time-Starved Marriage (Les&Leslie Parrott)
4) The Crazy Cycle in Marriage (Emerson Eggerichs)

If you have any questions about how to access Right Now Media or find a favorite resource you would like to share, please reach out to me andrea@lfppc.org or post it on our LFP Family Ministries Page.
