Mother’s Day was begun as an anti-war movement in 1870 by a Unitarian mother, Julia Ward Howe. An abolitionist and outspoken advocate for peace, Howe wrote a Mother’s Day Proclamation: “Arise all women who have hearts, whether your baptism be of water or tears.” This sermon will look at what all of our mother’s hearts, mothers or not, are asking of us now.
