It has been such a joyful, musical, and energetic experience welcoming our community back to the studio – or studios, if you are using the French Doors Connection! LOL

Hopefully by June we can all have in-studio lessons and I will look at starting up our small groups mid-late June.

Thank you all for your perseverance and tenacity and love for your music, as we navigate our musical lives!

If you have a tune you've written or arranged, a photo of your home violin practice space, a poem, or anything else to share with the Full Circle community, email it to me for possible inclusion in a future newsletter.
Explore & Experience – Bow Circles
Here is a nice warm-up, a Paul Rolland basic. Simple, relaxing.
  • In standing position, with violin and bow in place, place bow at frog end on a middle string for a downbow.
  • Make a grand sweeping stroke, following through by leaving the string gracefully, and making a large and high circle (as high as you can reach) to return to the same place on the string. Like a ballet movement, it should be freeing, slower, and elegant. You will feel your chest & arms open to create the circle above.
  • Try doing about 8-10 of these, as you consciously breathe and relax.
Happy Practicing 🎶

Play Along Tune: Can-Can
This week's play-along tune is "Can-Can" – yes, the one that we're all familiar with. It's easy to play, and fun to play really fast. Yes, you CAN CAN!

Here's a link to the sheet music.

And a link to the YouTube video you can play along with. A few suggestions:
• Play in unison with the video.
• Try improvising a second part / harmony.
• Turn off the video and break a speed record. How fast can you crank it and maintain control?
If you'd like to play straight through several times, you can make any YouTube video loop, by right-clicking on the video and selecting "Loop" from the dropdown menu that appears.
Inspiring Quote: Janine Jansen
"A wrong note played with the right intention is much to be preferred to the right note played with no soul."

This Week's Two Set Violin Video
Get Inspired. This one – subtitled "8 Most Epic Performances Everyone Should Watch" – is an eye / ear opener, even for Brett and Eddy. Really extraordinary. Click image to play. (BTW, you can see Janine Jansen, quoted above, as the 7th of 8 players here.)
