Where We Are . . .
I promised to give you an update on things when I could. We still do not know when we will dance together again (and I miss that even more than I realized!), but there are a few things we needed to do.
The first is to stop spending money while we are away. So, we cleared out the storage unit and have stopped renting it. Sound equipment, supplies, etc. have been divided between a few people to keep in their homes for now. We do not have any other on-going expenses, so we are steady there.
We have not scheduled any dances for now. Contra dancing is not something done from a distance. That and the exertion in close proximity means that this may be one of the last things that we will be able to do again.
So, we are calling a time out. The board has agreed that all memberships will remain valid until some time after we can start dancing again. We will work out the details, but everyone will remain members through the gap and may enjoy their memberships well past when dances restart. Because having elections would be difficult and because it would probably be difficult to get new Board Members, the Board will also cover the gap.
If this time without dancing goes for a very long time, we will try to look for other opportunities to get together. One suggestion is that we have concerts with sufficient distance between everyone. Many people would have to agree to this (the church or another venue, bands, etc.), so don’t hold us to that.
We just don’t want to lose track of everyone. If you have news to share with everyone, please post something on Facebook or let one of us know if you would like us to share what is happening with each other. If you have suggestions, let us know about that as well.
