This Sunday we remember the Paralytic at the well
The word paralytic come from the Greek meaning stumbling block. The current Covid-19 virus causes many to feel that they are paralyzed and confined.
According to St. John's Gospel, a man was paralyzed for 38 years and not several months, but had faith and hope that his situation would change despite the healthy who were probably pushing him away so that they might be first in the pool during the motion of the waters. Christ saw him and simply said "take up your bed and walk."
During periods of stress many people stumble, but we will be called to take up our beds and walk. Christ removes all obstacles with the His desire that we learn and His admonishment; "See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you."
