BOAT CLUB BULLETIN

Re-opening of the Club

For your information, Tennis Ireland has issued a statement referring to the Irish Government’s intention to permit some Club sporting activity in late May.

No guidance has been issued yet by the UK Government regarding lifting of the restrictions, however we are consulting with national Sports Governing Bodies and putting in place appropriate arrangements based on expert advice in order that we may reopen the Club as soon as the Government advises that the relevant lockdown provisions are lifted.

We will be sure to keep you informed of progress. Thank you for your patience and for your continued support of Belfast Boat Club.

It's great for fitness and you can really enjoy the social side to it and it’s a team effort.

Sticking to the rowing news - our incredible rower Philip Doyle worked for 70 hours last week in his job as a doctor at Daisy Hill hospital but still found time to row an indoor half marathon of 21km late on Sunday night, along with many other members of the Boat Club’s rowing community. What made Philip’s row special is that he broke the British and Irish records for the distance, completing it in a time of 1 hour, 10 minutes, 30 seconds.  What a man.

Two of our junior rowers have also broken Irish records in the 17-18 year old and 15-16 year old categories. Huge congratulations to Giselle Coulter and Patti Mullin for these significant achievements.
