Spring Fling
The PTO is hosting a Spring Fling committee zoom meeting to determine the logistics of the event on Wednesday, May 27 @ 5:30pm. If you'd like to attend the meeting please contact Amy White and she will make sure you get a zoom invitation.

Summer School
Summer school will take place this year from Monday, July 6 through Friday, July 31. Mrs. Bussan & Mrs. Yearous (our new 5th grade teacher) will host the math class, while Ms. Loyd and Mrs. Grover will host the reading class. The cost for one program is $100 or $150 if your child is attending both. If you have multiple children attending please contact me at school so we can discuss further cost reduction. 

7th & 8th graders
Don't forget, your solar cars are due no later than Friday, May 22.

Who needs zoom?
Flat Mrs. Hilliard visited Backbone and the fish hatchery with the Knudtson family. She even accompanied them on their scavenger hunt. 


Yearbook
Mrs. Hare will again be creating our yearbook this year. They will go on sale for $12 and ready for pick up in June. Mrs. Hare is requesting any pictures that you'd like posted in this year's edition be sent directly to her at hareh@sjs.pvt.k12.ia.us by Friday, May 15. You can pay for your yearbook(s) when you pick them up.

Fitness Challenge
Hi Everyone,
     I hope everyone continues to be safe and healthy! Its hard to believe we will be starting our 8^th week out of school. It is important that we all stay active during this time. Here are my Fitness Challenges for this week. Remember you e-mail me your weekly activities or you can keep them in a Fitness Journal. Journals can be turned in at school by May 18^th. Have a great week everyone!
 
Fitness Challenges for May 11-17, 2020:
1. Go for a walk with your family. Mushroom hunting would be a fun activity. 2 days for at least 15 minutes per day.
2. Go for a bike ride. 2 days for at least 15 minutes per day.
3. Exercise at home. Possible exercises would include:
     10 Push-Ups (2 sets)
     25 Crunches (2 sets)
     10 Jumping Jacks (2 sets)
     10 V-Ups (2 sets)
4. Practice your favorite sports skills outside. 2 days for at least 15 minutes per day.
5. Cool down stretching each day after your done with your activities.Stretch for at least 5 minutes. Stretch legs, shoulders, back etc.
