You're Invited: Virtual Office Hours

The Willamette Valley Visitors Association is working closely with various agencies in an effort to represent tourism, destinations and our amazing partners. We would like to provide a regular open forum to report on statewide updates, industry updates and help our stakeholders find the information needed to make it through. Our first session will be held, Friday May 8, 2020, from 10:00a.m. - 11:30a.m.

Join Tori Middelstadt, Development & Industry Relations Manager, and Katie McFall, Development Coordinator, for the conversation. Our virtual office hours will offer a loose (but guided) conversation to inform on reopening our region, as well as our time on the Regional Solutions Economic Recovery Teams for COVID-19. The goal of these meetings is to provide useful information and respectful, constructive conversation for navigating this difficult time.  The goal of these meetings are to provide useful information and respectful, constructive conversation for navigating this time. Governor's Office Updates

Friday, May 1– Governor Kate Brown introduced new plans for COVID-19 testing and contact tracing, two foundational elements of her framework for reopening Oregon safely. Ensuring adequate testing capacity and contact tracing will allow Oregon’s health care system to effectively identify and treat new cases of COVID-19, trace contacts with new cases to identify those at risk for infection, and contain new outbreaks before community spread can occur. Find the full statement here.

Friday, May 1– Governor Brown signed Executive Order 20-24, which extends the March 8, 2020 state of emergency declaration to July 6, 2020.

Tourism State of the Industry

On April 29, Travel Oregon's CEO, Todd Davidson alongside Alana Hughson, Managing Director, Oregon Destination Association and Jason Brandt, President & CEO, Oregon Restaurant & Lodging Association, hosted an in-depth discussion to inform the industry of the efforts we’re making to address the needs of travelers, partners, stakeholders and residents in a time when up-to-date information is crucial. Webinar is available here.

SBA Now Accepting EIDL Applications From Agriculture Businesses

In late April, Congress passed new legislation that expanded the Economic Injury Disaster Loan Program (EIDL) to include agricultural enterprises with fewer than 500 employees. This changes previous rules that prohibited farm and agricultural businesses from participating in the program.

With these new changes, agricultural businesses are now eligible for-
  • Grants of up to $10,000
  • Low-interest loans of up to $2 million
The EIDL program received an additional $60 billion as part of this legislation. This funding is expected to go quickly so don't delay. Access an application on the Small Business Administration website: sba.gov.
