Illinois Agricultural Leadership Foundation News
May 4, 2020
Mike Schweitzer (IALP '20) penned a piece in Dekalb County Farm Bureau Connections. Mike discusses the ways farmers have been affected by the pandemic. He notes that while there will undoubtedly be delays and hurdles impacting ag, those in agriculture are better equipped than most industries to adapt and succeed regardless of the challenges. He points to the issues faced during last year. Many farmers had lower yields or were unable to plant at all due to the heavy rain and flooding. Marc Bremer (IALP '16), owner of Bremer Farms and Ken Ropp (IALP '04), of Ropp Family Farms, are among Illinois farmers that have begun to make deliveries directly to customers during the coronavirus pandemic. As the world is in the grip of the coronavirus pandemic and we are inundated with bad news, it is important to recognize the actions of individuals working hard to assist those in need and bring support to their communities. Please share the efforts you or your fellow alumni are making to ease the burden of others during this crisis. We would love to share these occasions of goodwill and leadership!

Allan Worrell (IALP '88) and his wife Janet, did their part to help those in need by delivering meals prepared by their local hospital. Allan and Janet, along with other volunteers, delivered around 14 meals a day.

He and his family are also purchasing a lot in Jacksonville, which will be donated to Habitat for Humanity.

Save the Date!!

Due to challenges and closures caused by the coronavirus outbreak, our IALF Annual Memorial Golf Outing has been rescheduled for July 27th. We hope to see you there!
