FIRST teams around the world are invited to a virtual design competition where they solve a current world problem with their robotics skills. Students will use Onshape - a web-based CAD system used by professionals and available free to FIRST teams. Using Onshape, teams will: Design a robot that helps to solve a current world problem.
We hope you are safe and well and following the appropriate protective measures in your community. This pandemic has really turned our world upside down.
While we were happy to see the Virtual Showcase, we are still heartbroken for the teams who didn't get to make the trip to Houston to compete and experience a FIRST Championship. Don't forget you are all champions in our book!
We know our seniors are having hard time and hope that the FIRST Signing Day will give you a way to celebrate your future plans. Remember, FIRST isn't something you do, it's something you are and always will be.
We are amazed by the way teams have stepped up to help with PPE efforts and the reach you are having. Your FIRST skills have seen plenty of real-world applications.
We are excited about the Game Changers reveal but don't know what next season holds for us yet. We are watching and planning. We will be waiting to see what school looks like in the fall, what after school activities look like, what gathering size limits are, etc. We didn't send out an end-of-year survey because the main info we ask is related to registration for the new season. We'd love to hear about school district plans as you learn them.
This is a great robotics community and we are all here to support each other. Please reach out if you have any suggestions, questions or concerns.
Thanks for a great SKYSTONE Season! Congrats to the Class of 2020! Have a safe summer!
