Thank you for your interest in participating in the NY State CARES child care scholarship program for essential workers. We have received your program information via the online Provider Information Profile, and look forward to talking more with you soon.
Please review the following information to learn more about the CARES scholarship, and for some important next steps:
As a reminder, the CARES scholarship program supports essential workers who are required to work outside of the home during the COVID19 pandemic. Essential workers using a licensed or registered child care provider will receive a scholarship for the cost of care through May 15th, 2020. All licensed and regulated providers who are caring for the children of essential workers are able to participate in this new program. The CARES Child Care Scholarship will be available as long as the funds to support it are available.
What this means for you as a provider:
CARES Scholarship Details
- As the CARES program is driven by essential workers' child care needs, we will be reaching out to you to match you with eligible essential workers in need of child care on a rolling basis.
- If and when you are matched with a family in need of care, we will coordinate with you to gather the appropriate information needed to disburse the funds to cover that family's care. Note: while you will be receiving the CARES scholarship funding directly, these funds are for use in covering the cost of care for the specified family ONLY.
- Due to the high volume of providers interested in participating in the CARES program, we cannot guarantee you will receive new enrollments; referrals to your program under the CARES program will be based on parent need.
- The CARES scholarship covers the cost of child care up to the market rate, based on what you were charging as of March 1, 2020. Any fees above the market rate for each age group will not be covered by this program. For more information about the NYC market rates for child care, please see page 11 of the document linked here.
CARES Grants for Licensed Child Care Providers
- As you may have learned, the CARES funding allocated to New York State also includes grant funds for licensed child care providers to use to obtain essential supplies for care.
- We will send an email in the near future with further instructions for the CARES grant; there is no action needed from you at this time.
