"Linking Epidemiology and Public Health Practice to Support Climate and Health Adaptation"
Dear Colleagues,

We know this is a challenging time for everyone. Resilience and long-term planning are being pushed aside for urgent matters. But we're trying to keep our work on climate change moving forward and thinking about how the world will look post-pandemic.

Looking forward into calmer times, we are pleased to announce the production of a Special Issue titled “Linking Epidemiology and Public Health Practice to Support Climate and Health Adaptation” in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health.

We are interested in publishing papers that demonstrate innovative methods, partnerships, and adaptation strategies that link epidemiologic research to public health practice to support climate adaptation. We encourage contributions that document new methods for triangulating data to assess climate impacts on health, applied epidemiologic analyses that support climate adaptation or policy, community participatory approaches, or practical, data-driven climate adaptation interventions and evaluations of these programs. Contributions related to specific climate-related health outcomes or public health climate resilience planning, in general, are welcome. We would also be very interested in papers addressing the convergence of the COVID-19 pandemic and climate-related health impacts.

All articles published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health (ISSN 1660-4601) are published in full open access. In order to provide free access to readers, and to cover the costs of peer review, copyediting, typesetting, long-term archiving, and journal management, an article processing charge (APC) of 2000 CHF (Swiss Francs) applies to papers accepted after peer review. We are also looking for a few featured papers that highlight academic / community / governmental partnerships focused on climate and health. Featured papers may be eligible for free publication fees. If you are interested, contact us. Please direct any questions on this special issue to Drs. Hahn and Conlon at mbhahn@alaska.edu and kcconlon@ucdavis.edu with “IJERPH Special Issue” in the subject line of your email. You can also submit abstracts for review to Jessie Han, Assistant Editor at IJERPH (jessie.han@mdpi.com).

We invite you to consider submitting your work to this Special Issue. The deadline for submission is December 31, but submitted papers will be reviewed and published on an ongoing basis. Hope you all are hanging in there!

Best,
Micah Hahn, Institute for Circumpolar Health Studies, University of Alaska-Anchorage
Kathryn Conlon, University of California-Davis
