VFA Resource Update: News on EIDL Loans & Waiver Expiration

As the Governor’s Forward Virginia plan for a phased reopening of the state was announced Monday, the Small Business Administration announced that eligibility for its Emergency Injury Disaster Loan would be limited to U.S. agricultural businesses until further notice.  Additionally, emergency transportation waivers implemented as part of the early response to the COVID-19 pandemic are scheduled to expire in the next several days, including:
  • Virginia DMV’s temporary emergency waiver of certain registration, licensing requirements, weight, width restrictions and hours of service requirements are set to expire on May 19th at 5:00 P.M.
  • The FMCSA’s emergency declaration, last extended on April 8, 2020, is set to expire on Friday, May 15th.
VFA continues to update its COVID-19 Resource Page to provide reliable and timely information regarding the impact of the pandemic on companies, employees and individuals in Virginia’s forestry supply chain. For questions or to request additional assistance, please contact VFA Executive Director Corey Connors.

In Memory of Rhea Hale

VFA extends its condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Rhea Hale, Director of Public Policy at WestRock, who passed away on April 27, 2020 following a brief illness. She was a respected voice on sustainability, innovation, and the environment, and was integral to the forestry community’s advocacy efforts in Virginia. She will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for trees to be planted in Rhea's honor or a donation to the Broome County Humane Society and the LUNGevity Foundation. To read more about Rhea’s life and passions, click here.
