Happy Mother's Day!
Give a “Welcome Home” bundle to mothers at HousingPlus
We celebrate the mothers in our lives during the month of May. Whether it's through a gift of flowers, a spa day, or making her favorite meal, we all have a special way to say thank you. But in the midst of sheltering-in-place, this year we’re all finding new and creative ways to express our thanks. Despite the global public health crisis, at HousingPlus, we’ve stayed on track to open up a brand new, 100-unit affordable housing building in East New York through our first-ever partnership with private developers--where we’ll be welcoming home mothers and their children.
HousingPlus will provide on-site services and support to 30 formerly homeless families through our new program--recently named Soleil House--as they build bright new futures. These mothers have lived through significant traumas and uncertainty that ultimately led to their homelessness. They now have the opportunity for a fresh start, and the first of these families begin moving in this month! And from now until May 31, we are partnering with COCObundle, a social enterprise that provides towels, bedding, kitchenware, and more for those transitioning out of homelessness or housing instability. What better way to celebrate your mother--or another meaningful mom in your life--than by giving a welcome home bundle in her honor? Include her name and email address in the field when you check out, and we’ll let her know you made a gift in her honor to help a family in need.
Our new apartments are ready for move-in, and all we need now are the finishing touches to make them feel like home.
When you buy a bundle:
You're giving a tangible gift to our tenants AND your purchase supports the organization by paying for logistics (bundling, shipping, etc).
You don’t have to worry about sending bundles to us--after you check out, they are sent directly to our new building.
COCObundle products are durable and made to last. This is really important to us. We want to give dignity to our tenants and we want them to have items that will stand the test of time.
Giving women the power of choice is important. Bundles come in a variety of colors and families will be able to choose a color they love.

HousingPlus is expanding to serve more women and children through Soleil House--and our staff is growing too! We’ve hired additional team members, and we’re moving our property management, case management, and employment services staff all under one roof to create a “one stop shop” of support for our clients and tenants. You can take a virtual tour of our new program office here, and help us collect needed items to set up our team members in their new space. We are seeking donated like-new and gently-used office furniture, including the following:
2 armchairs for our therapeutic counseling room
4 side tables for our lobby
1 coffee table for our lobby
5 waiting area chairs for our lobby
2 conference tables (one 8-seat and one 15-seat table with chairs)
4 tall bookshelves
8 small meeting tables with chairs for our tenant conference areas
1 kitchen table with 8 chairs
