NATIONAL SMALL BUSINESS WEEK

While we encourage you to support small and local businesses all year round, we place a special emphasis on it during National Small Business Week.

Small Business Week is a time meant to highlight the importance of entrepreneurs and small business owners across the United States. Now, more than ever, we recognize the outstanding service, innovation, and development of small business owners in our city. Throughout this week, Downtown Oklahoma City Partnership urges you to find a way to support small businesses across downtown.

MIDTOWN MURAL WALL

Over the past weekend, Midtown gained a new mural wall. Located just east of the SSM Health St. Anthony Hosptial at NW 9th and Walker Ave, the #MidtownMuralWall aims to bring hope and optimism in the time of COVID-19.

Local artists Dusty Gilpin and Tank Ramirez completed the mural this past weekend thanking medical and frontline workers for their efforts and sacrifices during this global pandemic. This project was funded by the Midtown Association and complete in partnership with Lingo Construction and Midtown Renaissance.

NATIONAL BIKE MONTH

Every year, the League of American Bicyclists designates May as National Bike Month. This is a month to recognize and celebrate the benefits that bicycling has to community health and the environment, as well as its legitimacy as a mode of transportation.

There are several organized opportunities to get out and ride, while still complying with local and national health recommendations. ACOG is celebrating Bike Month with an area-wide Bicycle Scavenger Hunt.  This fun activity is an opportunity to get out and explore your community by bicycle!  A list of other local activities can be also be found on the Central Oklahoma Bike Month Activities Calendar.

LOCAL LOVE DISTANCE RUN

Red Coyote has organized a distance run for this Saturday, May 9, to help support local businesses in and around downtown like PLANT, Commonplace Books, SHOP GOOD, and many more. The instructions are rather simple. Register to run or walk any distance you choose, any time of the day on May 9th. When you register, select your favorite local business from their list of neighbors. Once you've completed your run or walk, you will receive a $20 gift card to spend at your selected favorite local shop.

OKLAHOMA ARTIST MARKETPLACE

The Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition has joined in partnership with the Philbrook Museum of Art to launch an emergency response online marketplace to support the sale of works by local artists. The best part? 100% of net proceeds will go directly to artists.

Click here to support local Oklahoma artists by purchasing their work through the new Oklahoma Artist Marketplace. You can also visit the Artist Relief page for more information about resources and funding opportunities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
2020 CENSUS

Responding to the census is important because it helps inform funding for key public services for your community like education programs and schools, hospitals and healthcare, roads and bridges, and emergency and disaster response.

Taking the 2020 Census is easy. You can take it online, on paper by mail, or on the phone. For more information, visit okc.gov/cesnus.
