North News

Greetings North Families!

This week I have several important pieces of information and updates for you regarding personal item pick-up and medication pick-up. Please pay special attention to the following information:

Student Personal Item Pick-up

Families may pick-up student belongings at Door #1 at North at either of the following times:

  • Monday, May 11th between 12:00 pm – 8:00 pm
  • Tuesday, May 12th between 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

*Please remain in your vehicle along the curb outside of door #1. A North Staff Member will ask for your student’s name and locker number and then retrieve your student’s belongings. All belongings from personal and gym lockers have been bagged and tagged with your student’s name and locker number.

Student Medication Pick-up

Parents who would like to pick-up remaining student medications should email or call North’s school nurse by noon on Friday, May 8th. Our school nurse will then make sure your student’s medication is ready for you to pick-up. Pick-up of medication will occur on the same days designated for personal item pick up – May 11th from 12:00 pm – 8:00 pm and May 12th from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm. Only families who email or call will receive their remaining medications. All other unclaimed medications will be destroyed in compliance within MDE and MDH guidance.  Contact the North Nurse, AMANDA LOESCH at amanda.loesch@isd742.org or 320-370-7017 if you intend to pick-up your student’s remaining medication on May 11th or May 12th.

Thank you for continuing to remain patient and adaptable to our changing educational environment as we continue planning to finish our school year through Distance Learning.

Respectfully,

Principal Brian Nutter                          Assistant Principal Heather Ebnet

Teacher Appreciation Week: May 4th to May 8th

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week. Please join the North Junior High Community in thanking our teachers for the amazing work they do every day. Below are several suggestions for students and families to show their appreciation to our wonderful teachers.

Activities Schoology Pages

The coaches have launched two Activities Schoology Pages.  One is for Softball/Baseball and one is for Track. They include things like, athletic workouts, stretches, drills for specific skills and areas of interest. Even partner drills that kids can do with parents or siblings.

Here are the access codes for the courses:

North Jr. High Track & Field 2020
Course code: G42M-W37Z-DVNCM

Softball & Baseball: Spring 2020
Course code: ZK42-2JNG-356QK

To our 8th grade families:

If your child paid to attend the Twins Game (Weather Day), the trip had to be cancelled and refunds will be issued.  The process has already been started to get checks mailed out to the families of those who paid.  Thank you for your patience in this process, as it is not expedient.

Activity Fees

Spring activity fees will be automatically refunded to families. We will either mail a refund check to you or your uncashed check. Our Activities Office staff are confirming addresses and will begin mailing checks at the end of this week and throughout the next several weeks. If you have not received your Spring activity refund by May 15, please feel free to contact our Activities Director at Michael.Gritman@isd742.org or our Lead Secretary at Wanda.Sis@isd742.org.

Attendance Reminder for North Families:

Please remind your student to check into Schoology each day so that they are marked present for attendance. If your child does not check-in for 15 consecutive school days, they may be dropped from enrollment and would need to register again through the Welcome Center. If your child is unable to log in, please call the office 320-370-7000 and leave a message and your child will be excused for the day. This will not count toward the 15 days. Please contact your grade level dean if you have questions or concerns.

Virtual Worlds Tournament

Although the VEX world championship was cancelled, they decided to simulate what could have been the results. The world championship is divided into divisions because there are so many teams. Our division had 91 teams and through the fantasy simulation we ended up 34th. I know it is pretend, but it is still fun to think about what could have happened.  Way to go Robotics team!

District 742 Provides Daily Grab & Go Meals at Multiple Locations

St. Cloud Area School District has expanded locations and delivery for meal distribution during this period of school closure. Grab and Go sites are located at Discovery, Madison and Talahi Elementary Schools, meals are also being delivered by school bus to neighborhood stops surrounding all our area schools, including Clearview and Kennedy. Meals are free to all District 742 students and distributed Monday – Friday. Grab and Go pick up is 11 AM – 1 PM. The bus delivery schedule follows. We encourage families to continue to be proactive in reducing the risk of COVID-19 by practicing social distancing and not congregating at the school site once meals have been distributed.
