Items of note for this week
Know a landholder suitable for weed funding?
As staff will be aware, we are now calling for EOIs from landholders for funding through the next round of the Western Weed Management Program. While Charlie and the project officers will be leading the charge in promoting this opportunity, everyone has a part to play. Whether it be a local group or individual landholders, please ensure they are aware of this opportunity. If you have any questions, please seek out one of the project officers (Andrea, Karin, Claudia, Peter or Brian). All the relevant information is on our website.
How is the Professional Wild Dog Controller program progressing?
A two-page resource providing an update on the Professional Wild Dog Controller program, as well as an overview of the program and an introduction to two of the trappers, is now available on our website. The update also includes some interesting stats around achievements to date including pest animals controlled, landholders involved etc. This resource has been communicated directly with program participants and landholders interested in the program, as well as key stakeholders such as pest management groups, Western Division Shire councils, NSW Western Wild Dog Coordinator, Bruce Duncan. Staff who are regularly in contact with landholders and stakeholders who would be interested in this resource are asked to email or print it (in-house) to have available.
Fish stocking funding opportunity
The NSW Government is calling on anglers, community groups, councils and others to apply for funding under the Dollar for dollar native fish stocking program, with applications now open. Under the 2020/21 program, the NSW Government will match between $1,000 and $6,000 for fish stocking activities involving high priority recreational fishing species including Australian Bass, Golden Perch and Murray Cod. Applications are now open (close on 26 June) and can be made via the online form.
