Sermon: How Can We Know?
Scripture: John 14:1-14

Preacher: Andy Cooke

Dear Covenant friends and family,

In this season of Easter, we continue to look at stories immediately before and after the resurrection of Jesus Christ. This week, we will hear from John’s Gospel, where Jesus gives a lengthy teaching to the disciples following the last supper. Jesus is attempting to reassure the disciples that they will be okay even though difficult days are on the horizon. He says, “Do not let your hearts be troubled,” but it is no use. Their hearts are troubled. It is easy to look at this story 2000 years later knowing that things turned out to be okay. But it is hard to look ahead and trust that God will guide you and prepare a place for you. Now more than ever, it is important that we hear God’s words to us. I hope that you’ll join us on Sunday morning as we listen together to what God has to say.

Pastor Andy

Invitation from Diaconate Prayer Team

Dear Covenant Family,

Please join us this Friday evening at 9:00 PM to pray together as a church family.  We ask that you continue to pray for those who are suffering from this virus, those who have lost loved ones to this disease, those who are feeling disconnected from friends and family, those who are missing graduations or important life events, and those who are working as essential personnel.

Peace be with you,
Becky DeLecuona, Dana Johnson, and Sabina Widner

Holy God, you love us like a Parent, and you know the deepest concerns of our hearts. We may be healthy, but we know those who are ill, and even fighting for their lives. We may be safe at home, but we know those who are essential workers and must leave home each day. We may have an income, but we know those who have seen their hours cut and their jobs lost. We may have enough food, but we know those who wait in line for hours. We may have access to the internet and can do schoolwork and stream movies, but we know those without, forced to fill out packets of papers and entertain themselves as best they can.

Lord God, look with compassion upon all your children. Grant us compassion for one another also. We are perplexed about what we should do. We are trying to strike a balance between saving the lives and saving the livelihoods of those around us.  Grant us wisdom. Grant us courage. Grant us perseverance. In the name of your son Jesus, who healed the sick and preached good news to the poor, we pray. Amen.

Next Sunday, May 17, we'll celebrate Covenant members who are graduating from high school, college, or graduate school this year. If you or someone in your family is graduating this year, please take a moment to let us know by completing this form or calling the church office by May 12.  Thank you!
Children & Youth
We Want To Hear from You!
Children and youth families, we'd love your input.  As we shift from the church program year into the summer, how can Covenant continue to support your children and family?  Please take a few moments to fill out this survey, and let us know your thoughts. Thanks so much!
Just because we can't meet in person doesn't mean we can't get together!  We've scheduled Zoom gatherings for children and youth this week, so we can check in with each other and see how everyone's doing.  We hope you'll be able to join us!

Opportunities to help and get help
Adopt a Green Space
We are not able to gather for a work day during this time, so the Building & Grounds Ministry Team has created an opportunity for individuals or families to come to the church on their own time to help maintain our landscape. Click here to see how you can help!

Caring Hands Offering
This Sunday, we will take the annual offering for the Presbyterian Homes of Georgia Caring Hands Fund. Click here to see the brochure and learn about the important mission of this organization that we support. Because we are not worshipping in the sanctuary, they have made a video for their supporting congregations this year. You may give through the church website or by mailing a check to the church with the notation "Caring Hands Fund."

Grocery Delivery
The deacons of the church would like your help to care for our members as the virus continues. If you find yourself in a situation where trips to the grocery store are difficult or too dangerous for your health, or if you know of someone in need of help with having groceries delivered, please contact Jeff Heck or the church office.
