There has been a lot of buzz this week about the Pulitzer Prize! Today, we bring you the words of the 1983 Pulitzer Prize winner for fiction:
Alice Walker, author of The Color Purple
Alice Walker was the first woman of color to win a Pulitzer Prize for fiction, and her words are brought to life by Dr. Daisy Century, who is herself a writer, actor, educator and historical interpreter:
Dr. Daisy Century reading from Alice Walker’s forward to the novel: Barracoon: The Story of the Last "Black Cargo" by Zora Neale Hurston
This week we are sharing one video in order to give you the impetus to pause and reflect more deeply - in light of all that is happening in the world today. Maybe listen to the video twice this time?
