EVEN NOW, LA SHINES
We hope that you're finding bright spots in this time―whether it's sidewalk chalk doodles or clearer skies. Here are a few of our favorites this week:
Helping Hands
We're encouraged to see Angelenos coming together as COVID-19 continues to impact our communities. You'll find these resources, services, and volunteer opportunities on our COVID-19 Directory. Some of the newest additions: LA County's "Let's Feed LA" portal, a guide to COVID-19 for cancer patients, and a folder with essential COVID-19 messaging in 14 languages. Know of additional resources? Use this form to share the details.
My LA2050 Grants Challenge
We've loved browsing the 285 submissions to this year's My LA2050 Grants Challenge and exploring their bright ideas for a better LA. Want to be uplifted? Check out these snapshots of the 82 proposals making LA the best place to LEARN and the 46 proposals making LA the best place to CREATE. And stay tuned for a dive into our final category, PLAY!
Social Venture Partners
This year, we're proud to have the members of Social Venture Partners Los Angeles (SVP) bring their expertise to the 2020 My LA2050 Grants Challenge proposal review process. Right now SVP is hard at work evaluating all of this year's proposals to select our 25 finalist organizations, to be announced May 25th. Read more about our exciting partnership with SVP here.
Census Challenge
Recently, we partnered with the Mayor of Los Angeles to launch the #Census9for9 Challenge. We've been inspired to see Angelenos accept the challenge to ensure that our communities are counted in the 2020 Census! To participate: complete your nine census questions, share about why the census matters to you on social media, and tag nine friends to challenge them to join using #Census9for9! Learn more.
