Pace of new PPP loan approvals appears to slow
Application approvals appear to be slowing down for the federal Paycheck Protection Program. As of Tuesday evening, the U.S. Small Business Administration reported about $181.16 billion of loans had been approved using the $310 billion pot. That’s about 58.44% of the funds. The SBA last reported an update on the PPP through May 1 – the first five days of the second round of funding. At that time, $175.74 billion in loans had been approved, accounting for about 56.69% of the available money. More here
Wisconsin health agency releases metrics hospitals must achieve before Badger Bounce Back
Fifteen days after Gov. Tony Evers announced his Badger Bounce Back plan for restarting Wisconsin’s economy, his health services agency released key metrics for determining when to phase up activity — hospitals affirming they can treat all patients without crisis-care protocols. If Wisconsin hospitals achieve the goals, the state can proceed to phase 1 of the bounce-back plan that will allow essential businesses to resume full operations and non-essential businesses to start partial operations. Wisconsin has paid out $384.3M in unemployment benefits since March 15
Since the Covid-19 pandemic began negatively impacting Wisconsin's economy in mid-March, the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development has deployed $384.3 million to those in need of unemployment benefits, the department announced. Through May 2 and dating back to March 15, DWD has received 498,297 preliminary unemployment benefit applications. The daily counts reported by DWD are not yet official. After the claims are processed and verified, the counts are reported weekly to the U.S. Department of Labor. More Here
