The Great Outdoors: Inspirational Outdoor Spaces For All Your Alfresco Dreams
As the weather grows warmer and the evenings stay lighter, our gardens and outdoor spaces, more than ever, have become our sanctuaries. From large gardens to small patios and balconies, just being in these spaces, eating, drinking - absorbing some much needed Vitamin D - the great outdoors is sure to elevate our moods.

Explore below some beautifully designed outdoor spaces from our interior design clients Champalimaud Design and Goddard Littlefair and also some top tips from Goddard Littlefair's Co-Founder and Director, Jo Littlefair.

Now is a great opportunity to analyse your outdoor space and its relationship to the indoors and to start thinking of the garden as your additional room. You can track the path of the sunlight during the day, watch which areas are great for breakfast, lunch and sundowners and then plan your space accordingly. Our small, walled garden has been planned to squeeze in as many dining opportunities as possible, including reclaiming the flat roof of an extension as a terrace. - Jo Littlefair, Co-Founder & Director of Goddard Littlefair

If at all possible, we would really recommend thinking about how you can implement a lighting scheme in your garden to give you year-round use and sense of the scale of your outdoor space. Consider running LED strip lights in stairs or shelves to backlight planters, spotlights to wash stepping stones or cast a light over a pond surface and angled lights on spikes to run along perimeters of the space to put tall plants in shadows or highlight a feature tree. - Jo Littlefair, Co-Founder & Director of Goddard Littlefair
