COOK
Go on a culinary tour of Switzerland with Chef Yannick Germanier and discover the spring flavors of the Canton of Valais! This seasonal salad with asparagus, poached egg, and cheese highlights the exquisite taste of the Mund saffron. Mund is a small village in the Valais and the last place in Switzerland to still cultivate saffron. The villagers safeguard their tradition and produce nearly three kilograms of saffron a year. This dish, featuring simple yet mouth-watering ingredients, will delight your palate.  Watch Yannick prepare the Valais Spring Salad hereThe recipe can be found in the video description.

EXPLORE
The Museum of Art and Design (MAD) invites you to look closely at award-winning Swiss designer David Bielander's Cardboard Crown (2015) from MAD's collection to learn how jewelry can be a form of communication and challenge our assumption of value. “David Bielander leverages his expert goldsmithing skills to make seemingly simple and naïve-looking objects that are actually quite layered with meaning. The playful nature of his work draws you in – his storytelling abilities and material cleverness seduces you into long bouts of contemplation.” Barbara Paris Gifford, Associate Curator, Museum of Arts and Design. WATCH
Home, starring Isabelle Huppert and directed by Ursula Meier, centers on a family, an abandoned highway and their microcosmic life they have constructed around it. The family's daily routine and nuclear bond are severely disrupted when the highway is reopened and constant traffic streams past their house. The effect of noise, pollution and their seclusion from the outside world causes them to spiral into turmoil and paranoia. Home is a harrowing portrait of the human psyche in isolation, but also the resilient drive for tranquility and autonomy over one's own life. Watch the movie here

STAFF PICK
LE VENT NOUS PORTERA BY SOPHIE HUNGER
RECOMMENDED BY RANIA HABEGGER
My name is Rania Habegger and I’m part of the Sustainable Development and Humanitarian Affairs team at the Permanent Mission of Switzerland to the United Nations. Our current duties entail the multilateral response to COVID-19 on a humanitarian, health, development and socio-economic level. During these challenging times it is important to keep a healthy work-life balance. This is why I enjoy delicious cooking by Yannick and like to nourish my musical soul with the song Le vent nous portera by Sophie Hunger, one of the best known Swiss singer-songwriters internationally. Tune in to Rania's recommendation here.
