Hi, Readers,

I hope you are doing well. This is a difficult time. Since I am very much over 50, I’m staying at home with my husband except for veterinarian visits for the fur babies and necessary drives to a small nearby post office. We wear our masks when we go out and I don’t see that changing for us anytime soon. Instead of booksigning events, I’m doing more author chats and online interaction with readers. I’m writing, gardening, cooking, caring for our cats and listening to audio books. They are an excellent escape. I hope you are managing to escape too to relieve stress.

This month my Daisy’s Tea Garden e-books (books 1 - 4) are on sale for $1.99. You can download them from Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Kobo.

My newest release, MURDER WITH CLOTTED CREAM, will be released on May 26. I hope you enjoy it as much as the others.

Please stay safe and well.

Best,

Karen

MURDER WITH CLOTTED CREAM

MURDER WITH CLOTTED CREAM, my fifth Daisy's Tea Garden mystery, is now available for pre-order.  It is a May 2020 release.

Here is a preview of the book:

A catering job has come in for Daisy’s Tea Garden in Pennsylvania’s Amish country—but death will be served before dessert . . .

Margaret Vaughn has hired Daisy to provide afternoon tea for her theater group. A local girl who left long ago for an acting career in New York, Margaret has returned home—with a multimillionaire husband in tow. But while Daisy bustles around Margaret’s historic farmhouse, she senses that there’s tension behind the scenes. Then she discovers the hostess on the floor of the pantry—dead and covered with clotted cream.

Barely recovered from her previous sleuthing adventure, Daisy joins forces with the former detective she’s been dating to help solve the case. Should she cast suspicion on the stars of the upcoming play? Can Margaret’s sister shine a spotlight on potential culprits? Or are there clues to be found in the victim’s past? With plenty of family stress of her own to deal with, all Daisy knows is she better act fast . . .

I begin to prepare for our summer garden in February.  I plant petunia, snapdragon, pepper and tomato seeds and care for them in our basement...on seedling heat pads and under grow lights.  As they develop their second growth of leaves, I transplant them into larger pots.  After the weather turns warmer, I move the established plants into our sun room, then outdoors before planting them in the garden.  My husband has prepared the garden and the raised beds.  Just this week, we planted the zucchini and cucumber seeds.  I also like to add a patch of zinnias in the garden to add color.  The irises are now blooming and the peonies are in bud.  The cat mint is blooming and the outside cats love to sit near the mound.  The new life outside gives hope and a sense of peace to our otherwise turbulent world.  I love to sit on the patio and observe springtime beauty.
Until next time...

The Cats Have Been My Refuge!

The last few months have been a challenge for all of us.  My husband and I have tried to follow all the suggested safety precautions to stay safe from the virus.  I have kept busy writing and gardening, but not having the freedom to jump in the car and go shopping or dine out has been draining.  The cats have been my refuge.  They still bring smiles to my face and keep me on a daily schedule.  They can sometimes read my mood and sense uneasiness with the stresses the pandemic has created.  They still give their unconditional love, snuggle with me when I need a hug and fill our home with life and vitality.
