[UPDATE] The House of Representatives recently passed the HEROES Act, which included a nationwide moratorium on power, water and broadband shutoffs during the COVID-19 pandemic. Partnership for Southern Equity and over 800 organizations continue to stand firm for Black and Brown communities and all communities of color who are disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemicand rising utility burdens. If you or someone you know has had one or more of your utilities disconnected since March 16 please fill out our survey at http://www.bit.ly/noshut-offs to connect with this effort or contact Just Energy Community Organizer Wan Smith. Together we will prosper!
#ATLCounts

In addition to voting on June 9, there's still the United States Census of 2020, which will provide critical data that lawmakers, business owners, teachers, and many others use to provide daily services, products, and support for you and your community. Every year, more than $675 billion in federal funding go to hospitals, fire departments, schools, roads, and other resources based on census data. PSE supports the City of Atlanta's #ATLCounts initiative to ensure everyone is counted, which ensures a more equitable division of funding and representation in our communities.
This summer, our Keep That Same Energy Youth Initiative is inviting young people from across the Southeast for three Summer Southeast Youth Chat and Chews to come together, break bread (virtually of course) and talk about the inequities experienced during COVID-19, June 10, July 8, August 12, 2020, 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Please register in advance to receive the call information.
Thank you for participating in #GivingTuesdayNow! Your invaluable financial contribution to help us raise $10,000 will enable us to partner with frontline organizations through the COVID-19 pandemic. If you are a frontline organization in need of assistance or you know of any, please contact us for upcoming grant opportunities.

Your continued contribution will help our advocacy beyond COVID-19 through our leadership development cohorts, community organizing, and other efforts toward realizing a new Southern agenda for racial equity and shared prosperity in Atlanta and beyond. Thank you for your gift!

#JustHealth
  • On Friday, May 11, Just Health Community Ambassador Kendra StallingsLive Healthy Chattooga and many of its partners came together to distribute food for Helping Hands Ending Hunger. The community rallied with 20+ volunteers to unload, package, deliver and hand out food boxes of more than 50 pounds to 183 families and 734 individuals. 8,848 pounds of food was distributed without a single box leftover. The Great Georgia Give supplied 297 half gallons of milk, and local sponsors drummed up money to purchase 400+ dozen eggs to hand out to the families. A locally closed restaurant provided the coolers to store the milk and eggs, a local business donated bags. Volunteers included school faculty, student leaders, community officials, church members, county Extension staff, and 4-H students. For more information visit Helping Hands Ending Hunger and the Great Georgia Give.
#JustOpportunity
  • Due to COVID-19, the Just Opportunity team postponed its April Just Opportunity Circle (JOC) meeting and the screening of Striking Voices. While they had been exploring ways to transition to a virtual meeting, it felt best to regroup and focus on ways to appropriately respond in the wake of current events. Just Opportunity Program Manager Sterling Johnson is currently scheduling check-ins with JOC members to hear their feedback on ways the JOC can more proactively support equity work from their respective organizations and ways to collaborate.
Keep up with Nathaniel Speaks, which will allow you to keep up with our founder and CEqO on his upcoming speaking engagements around the country, and Online Events to see what other virtual events PSE is participating throughout the equity ecosystem.
Support a more equitable future today!
