On behalf of the Cascade Mycological Society (CMS) Board of Directors I would like to update all CMS members on the current status of CMS events and activities.
  •          Our monthly meetings that are normally held on the 3rd Wednesday (7-9pm) of the month at the Amazon Community center are now streaming online on our newly created CMS Youtube Channel.  We hope to resume in person meetings in September after our normal summer hiatus of no meetings June through August.
  •          Our Annual meeting and Mushroom Grill out that was previously scheduled for May 24th at Lively Park in Springfield has been postponed. We hope to reschedule this event to early September.
  •          Both the Morel foray (May) and the Spring Bolete foray (June 6th) have been cancelled. The decision to cancel was based upon the Oregon State Phase I Guidelines that state group gatherings of any type may not involve travel. Both of these events take place in Deschutes County.
On a more positive note, our new found knowledge of online meeting and streaming technologies is something we hope to continue even after we are able to meet in person.  We had over 350 persons participate in our first live stream meeting on Burn Morels, and an additional 587 views on Youtube. Being able to reach more people to educate them about fungi is a definite win!

We also want to thank all of you who have chosen to renew your CMS membership during these difficult times, and would like to welcome those new members who have discovered CMS online while sheltering at home time.  For those who have not renewed their membership, we completely understand and hope to see you again in September for the 2020-2021 season.

Take care and stay safe,
Cheshire Mayrsohn
