Kicking off the FishBase and SeaLifeBase anniversary celebrations
We are happy to announce that this year, we are celebrating the 30th and 15th anniversary of FishBase and SeaLifeBase, respectively. To commemorate this event, the first of a year-long digital campaign to celebrate our milestones is being launched here. Rainer Froese wins Ocean Awards in Science
The Ocean Awards, a joint effort between Blue Marine Foundation and BOAT International, is now on its fifth year and continues to honor and recognize people and organizations working tirelessly to address the crisis in our oceans and improve its future.
Among the 2020 winners, Dr. Rainer Froese (GEOMAR) topped the Science Award for creating the successful online fish encyclopedia, FishBase, and leading the development of three revolutionary computer-intensive methods and software for assessing stocks of data-poor fisheries. [More]
