Changes to Deer Management Group arrangements with Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS)
The way in which FLS pays its subscriptions to ADMG is changing.  In recent years FLS has paid Deer Management Groups (DMGs) direct, and this has been taken into account in DMG subscriptions to ADMG.  Going forward FLS will pay the cull element of its DMG subscriptions to ADMG direct.  All other payments from FLS to DMGs for running costs etc will be by agreement between FLS and the relevant DMG and be paid direct.

With effect from season 2019/20 (subscription year 2020/21) FLS will therefore issue one centralised payment to ADMG covering all DMGs in May/June and the data and cull numbers on which that contribution is based. ADMG will then pass this information back to respective DMGs for their records along with a note of the payment received from FLS for that Group. Rates paid by FLS will remain the same following this change.

This development will deliver internal administration efficiencies for FLS and fits with their new data capture programme and reporting capability.  This new programme records cull information and data which is then built into an information base, allowing FLS to provide this information on a compartment/DMG level.  More information about this will be available later in the year.

Any issues arising from new arrangements should be communicated direct to ADMG Secretary Finlay Clark by e mail or telephone 01397 702433

Survey – stalking lets and venison supply
ADMG, the Lowland Deer Network Scotland (LDNS), and the Scottish Venison Association (SVA) are conducting a short survey to assess what impact COVID-19 may have on deer management plans for 2020/21, in particular let stalking and the supply of venison into the food chain.

There has been a good response so far but the more data we can gather the better picture we can build. If you have a few minutes to spare do please complete the survey. This will give us valuable insight into how the current crisis is likely to affect our sector in the short and longer term. Thank you.
