I hope you are well and managing to stay fit and healthy in this very unusual time. I wanted to get in touch to update you with the current situation in relation to both Aqua Vitae and Matfen Hall generally.
We were delighted to be able to re-open the majority of the golf facilities last Friday, which has proved to be incredibly busy; I’m sure helped by this great weather. We are operating golf from the Golf Academy with the Standing Stone and Douglas courses open. We’ve also opened the Par 3 course and driving range with John, Jonny and JJ all back teaching. Clearly we have followed all the COVID-19 guidelines with golf, with the key restriction being two golfers maximum per tee time and strict social distancing measures. Our Hotel and Aqua Vitae Spa, will remain closed throughout the month of June. We will continually review government advice in relation to the reopening of the Hotel.
We are obviously starting to make plans in terms of the re-opening of Aqua Vitae but as yet the government has not yet given any indication as to when this type of business will be given the green light to re-open. We anticipate that when we are permitted to re-open the club, we will be required to implement a variety of restrictions which will be applied on an industry wide risk assessment basis. We will apply these processes and restrictions ensuring we create the safest possible environment both for you, our members and the Aqua Vitae team. We expect that the key constraints on the day to day activities of the club will be around social distancing. As you can imagine, this will require a degree of re-organisation of how we operate the club. We expect that this will be a phased return requiring procedures to control the number of people within the club including the flow of members around the club, limitations in class numbers, extended class change over times, additional cleaning policies, limitations on gym and pool capacity, restricted use of the changing rooms and Juice Bar. As always, we will be creative and try to co-ordinate the operations to host classes outside if possible or in larger rooms within the hotel to enable us to facilitate the social distancing requirements. In doing so, we will need to change the current timetable to accommodate the additional policies. We will do our best to deliver a comprehensive timetable, but as I'm sure you can appreciate it will be a complex process and we politely ask for your support during this time.
It is my assumption that these guidelines will evolve over time and become less onerous as the risk reduces and we get back to normality. As soon as it becomes clear when we can re-open, we will be in touch and will outline the changes that affect you as a member.
