In a normal year, many families would be attending graduation ceremonies and honoring their loved ones. I am truly sorry that these important milestones can’t be celebrated in their usual fashion, but maybe you’ve discovered creative and unique ways to observe these rituals so that you can move in a healthy manner into the next chapter
of life.
This Sunday, the scripture reading from Acts will focus on choosing a new apostle and leader to replace Judas Iscariot. As we celebrate graduations, this is a time to consider the leadership roles our young people will assume in church and society. The nurture and guidance we give along with our commitment to youth is crucial not only for raising up pastors, but also for service and leadership in education, in business, in government, and other areas beneficial to our world. We need leaders with a strong moral compass and healthy spiritual values in the marketplace, in the political process, in the school system as well as in the church.
Here at Calvary by the Sea you can make a difference not only for the future of our congregation and the church at large, but also for the structures and the institutions that are valuable and life-giving to our society. What a wonderful opportunity we are being given to invest ourselves in the searching, growing, and curious lives of our younger brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ. They need us in their lives, and we must step forward on their behalf. I’ll see you in worship this Sunday as we honor all our graduates.
Pastor David
This Sunday we will honor the following graduates:
Miss Zoe Lewis, 6th Grade graduating from
Waiahole Elementary School.
Miss Mira Ako will be graduating from Kaiser High School. Mira plans to attend and pursue Business Administration at Chapman University in Orange. CA.
Mr. Ben Taylor also graduates from Kaiser High School. Ben will be studying Business Administration at Furman University in Greenville, SC.
As they journey to the next chapter of their life, may each remember these words of promise and hope:
Do not be afraid, I am with you.
I have called you each by name.
Come and follow me, I will bring you home;
I love you and you are mine.

Sunday School Updates
Aloha Sunday School Ohana!
This story focuses on Jesus' Ascension after his resurrection and the message that he gave to his disciples right before he was taken to heaven. It also tells of the coming of the Holy Spirit as promisedby Jesus. I hope everyone is continuing to stay safe and healthy and looking forward to when we can all be together again!
