Support GBTU / May Online Meeting

Dear GBTU Members,

As we move through this unprecedented time, we hope you are in good spirits, healthy and managing through this challenge. There’s a lot of uncertainty and we know that we need to adapt fast to our changing reality. For the short term, we’re doing everything possible to sustain membership engagement through virtual chapter meetings via Zoom and Facebook Live – we hope you are able to join us.
By the way, our next chapter meeting is Monday, May 18th from 6:30-7:30 pm on Zoom. Board members Chris Hirsch and John Lefeber will be presenting on Macroinvertebrates and Matching the Hatch. Chris is the head scientist for GBTU and NEPRWA and John is an avid fisherman familiar with matching local species. Make sure to register with the Zoom link below.
  • 6:30 - Social Hour
  • 6:45 - Macroinvertebrates presentation
  • 7:20 - Info on next week's fundraiser

We've postponed our May 20th Fundraising Dinner! This event is always a great community gathering of friends and supporters and is also the largest contributor to our fundraising efforts. In the past your donations have allowed GBTU to support many terrific opportunities, including:

  • GBTU took a leadership role in funding the procurement of the Gudell Hart property, approximately 150 acres of open land with a half mile of frontage on the West Branch of the North River, a tributary of the Deerfield. GBTU’s significant grant of $10,000 to support this acquisition will greatly expand the 82-acre Crowningshield Conservation Area, which GBTU also helped purchase.

  • We provided Embrace-a-Stream funding of $8,500 for temperature loggers and eDNA Testing in the Neponset River Watershed Area, our homewaters.

These grants would not be possible without your generous support. We want to be able to continue answering important grant requests both for our homewaters, the Neponset River, and for our region.

We look forward to seeing you (if possible) for our re-scheduled dinner in October. Meanwhile, please help us celebrate May 20th with your donation - LINK

If you’re able, please make a donation.  If you’re unable to donate at this time, there are many other ways you can support us! You can advocate for us by sharing our mission with a family member or friend. Even a quick mention on your social media would mean the world to us.  Maybe you have skills to volunteer – fundraising, marketing, writing, event planning, education, stream cleanups . . . in fact, we will be asking our membership to select their favorite stream and organize a personal cleanup event later in June - more to come . . .

In times like this, we’re reminded of how interconnected we all are. Thank you for being part of our community. Without you, none of this would be possible.
