I wish to thank you all for your active your participation in the Resilient YMCA: Leaders Talks series. Over the past six sessions, we heard from a diverse group of world-class experts in their field and we grateful so many YMCA Leaders were able to make time to attend the sessions. Thank you also for your feedback, sharing how the speakers bought practical tools and resources, along with insight and inspiration during these difficult times.
Our speakers shared insight on crisis communications, risk mitigation, trust and teambuilding, global cooperation, mental health, change makers, decision making in a crisis, the currency of kindness, adapting to change, philanthropy and funding, social constructs and innovation, brand trust, the future of work, pivoting to the digital world, servant leadership, our shared humanity and how young people are leading in extraordinary ways.
We also heard how leaders are taking care of their Body – Mind – Spirit during this crisis, and how many of our expert speakers were so positively influenced by the YMCA during their youth.
During the journey, we have collectively witnessed the onset of the “Next Normal” – a period of new and great uncertainties catalysed by the Covid-19 pandemic. This next normal is demanding us to make adjustments to our lives in ways that will be uncomfortable, and in a manner that has not been experienced on a similar scale by previous generations.
But as our experts have shared during these past six weeks, YMCA is a resilient movement and we can take strength in knowing that, together, we will overcome.
Together we can endeavor to be relevant to the young people to our communities and society as whole. Let us continue the journey by uniting together to shape our collective future, faithful to the ideals of our founders, past leaders and the millions of young people who have benefited from the YMCA approach to youth empowerment.
