Dear Supporter

We just wanted to drop you a line to keep in touch during these continuing tough times.

We are maintaining business as usual at Wirral Hospice in as many ways as it is possible to do so - our inpatient ward is continuing to admit and care for patients, and we are still providing a hospice at home service where it's needed. For other aspects of our care and support we have been using different ways to stay in contact with our patients who are not able to attend our hospice at present, and reaching out to families who would usually access our bereavement support on site.

Things are just not the same as they usually are though and we really miss that. We really miss the face-to-face contact we would normally have with all of our patients, families, volunteers, colleagues, supporters, suppliers, and friends from around the Clatterbridge Health Park who would usually pop into our Hub cafe.

We hope that you have been able to keep safe and well so far, and that you are able to continue to do so. It's hard not being able to spend time with family and friends. Video and telephone calls have become a lifeline for many of you we're sure.

We also wanted to say thank you for the kindness you have shown to our hospice over the past few weeks. It's been extremely moving reading your messages of support and receiving such generous donations towards our Urgent Appeal.

Many of you will have had first-hand experience of our care and support; knowing just how important it is for our patients and families today, and for that of our future patients and their loved ones.

Thank you so much, you support means even more to us at this difficult time.

Warmest wishes
Fundraising Team xxx

If you haven't been able to help us yet but would like to, there are a number of ways you can get involved:

1) Sign up to Sponsor a Nurse - to make a regular, tax-efficient gift to us each month. Supporting us in this way will not only help us now during this difficult time but will provide longer-term support that will be so important to us when we come through the other side of Coronavirus.

2) Become a lottery member - to be in with a chance of winning our top weekly prize of £2,000, and a rollover that can climb up to £10,000! As well as being in with a chance of winning some brilliant cash prizes, this is another important way of supporting our charity over the longer-term.

3) Make a one-off donation to Wirral Hospice's Urgent Appeal JustGiving page. We know not everybody is in a position to comfortably sign-up for a longer-term commitment but if you are able to help by making a one-off donation, we would be very grateful.

4) Sign up to Move It May - a simple initiative to support us. Run, walk, cycle, climb or workout. Complete your chosen challenge by the end of May, wherever you like, whenever you like (keeping within government guidelines of course)!

5) Is your pooch a chooch? Do you have a pretty kitty? Enter your pets into our Virtual Pet Performance - a competition to find Wirral's cutest and most impressive pets during lockdown.

Other ways you could help:

Hold your own home-based fundraising event or activity, such as a sponsored campout, virtual quiz, set up a Facebook Birthday Fundraiser page, sponsored headshave, hold a living room danceathon... or any other ideas you can think of that your family and friends will willingly sponsor you for. You can set up your own JustGiving page linked to our Wirral Hospice Urgent Appeal page here.

Are you a UK tax payer? Have you signed a recent Gift Aid declaration that will allow us to reclaim 25% of any eligible donations you may have made to us in the last four years? This is a really simple way you can help us on top of any donations you might wish to make or have already made.

You could help Wirral Hospice be in with a chance of winning a donation of £1,000 from Ecclesiastical's Movement for Good giving scheme. Please nominate Wirral Hospice St John's here, thank you.

You can also help Wirral Hospice St John's when you shop at your local Co-op! You can help us to benefit by nominating Wirral Hospice St John's as your Co-op local cause. Every time Co-op members shop, 1% of what they spend on Co-op-branded products and services helps fund community projects. Thank you for your support!

You can help if you buy something from Wirral Hospice's ebay shop. If you have designer or good quality items you'd like to donate to us, please contact the Fundraising Office on 0151 343 0778 so that we can make arrangements with you to collect these or for you to bring them to us when it is safe to do so. We will always try to get the best price for such donations and are extremely grateful for contributions of this nature to our charity.

Buy an item from Wirral Hospice's Amazon wish list - a great way to support the hospice and know exactly how your donation is spent. Our Wish List is a way of sharing with our supporters what items we would like to buy if we had the budget, or items that provide extra comfort and support to our patients and their loved ones.

You can also shop for items on our wish list using Amazon Smile, a sister site of Amazon.co.uk which will donate 0.5% of what you spend on their site to Wirral Hospice St John's (this includes anything you buy for yourself too!), just search for and choose Wirral Hospice when prompted amd they will make a donation to the hospice.
