Charlie King and Eve Goldberg have organized this wonderful evening of music to commemorate the life and music of the legendary songwriter John Prine, who died April 7, 2020 as a result of Covid-19.  He was an American country folk singer-songwriter.  He was active as a composer, recording artist, and live performer from the early 1970s until his death and was known for an often humorous style of original music that has elements of protest and social commentary. His songs address the social ills of the last half century and have been covered by many members of PMN.

Order of Performance:  1. Eve Goldberg – John Prine Tribute and Introduction;  2. John McCutcheon – Tribute song to Prine;  3. Rosalyn Dennett & Rob McLaren – "Spanish Pipedream";   4. Eve Goldberg – "You Got Gold";   5. Andy Gricevich – "Come Back To Us Barbara Lewis";   6. Charlie King – "Six O'Clock News";   7. Lindsey Wilson – "Angel from Montgomery";   8. Tony Turner – "Boundless Love";   9. Marcia Taylor – "Speed of the Sound of Loneliness";   10. Rick Burkhardt – "Fish & Whistle";   11. Deborah Silverstein – "Somewhere Someone’s Falling in Love";   12. Hugh Hanley – "That's the Way World Goes Round";   13. Ken Curtin – "Egg & Daughter Night";   14. Cathy & Marcie – "Dear Abby";   15. Bev Grant – "Sam Stone";   16. Lynn Harrison – "Souvenirs";   17. Connie Kaldor – "Paradise";   18. Reggie Harris – "Hello In There";   19. Tret Fure – "Crazy as a Loon";   20. Peach Hampton – "My Darlin' Hometown";   21. John McCutcheon – "Unwed Fathers";   22. John O'Connor – "Late John Garfield Blues ";   23. Annie Patterson – "Your Flag Decal Won't Get You Into Heaven"

* A note on technology: based on what we understand, the viewer experience of Facebook Livestreams can be variable due to limited internet speed, and this may be affected by the sheer number of people streaming content over the internet, which has increased during the pandemic, at a given time in a given geographical area.  Viewers can increase available bandwidth for the livestream on their end by 1) using a wired internet connection instead of WiFi 2) having other applications and windows shut down 3) having fewer internet devices connected to your modem at once.   If your screen freezes up during the livestream, chances are good that this will not be a problem when you watch the replay.  We're doing the best we can using an internet infrastructure that we don't have much democratic control over.

Planning for June 2020

We are busy planning a number of online programs for next month, including the PMN Member Community Meeting; a Round Robin; and a number of skills-based educational workshops, plus our already well-attended Song and Poetry swaps.  Some of the events (but not all) will take place from June 12-14, the weekend when the PMN Summer Gathering was initially planned to take place.  More information will be released about this in late May and early June.  Feel free to reply to <pmn@peoplesmusic.org> with your suggestions, offerings, and inquiries.
