Calvary Chapel Fergus Falls - Simply Teaching The Bible Simply!
Our Vision: To make whole followers of Jesus Christ by teaching through the whole Bible
“I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,
always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy,
for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now,
being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun
a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ”
—Philippians 1:3-6

Dear Church Family,
We hope you are well and continuing to move forward with a positive attitude in the current COVID-19 environment. Here is the most up to date information on our efforts to protect the health of our leaders, visitors and church members.

Practice Good Hygiene
An essential part of stopping the spread of the virus is practicing good hygiene.
  • Keep your hands clean: Proper hand washing is vital to stopping the spread of infectious material. Wash with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, being sure to use warm water and fully cleaning all surfaces of your hand including palms and tops of hands up to the wrist, in between fingers, along cuticles and under fingernails. Use of hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol should only be used if washing with soap and water is unavailable.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Avoid people who are sick.
  • Stay home and away from others when sick.
  • Cover your coughs and sneezes with tissues or your arm/sleeve. Dispose of tissues in the trash and then immediately wash your hands as described above.
  • Talk to a health care provider if you are sick.
Cleaning and Disinfecting
You're probably wondering, what steps the YMCA has taken to ensure member and visitor safety throughout the COVID-19 pandemic?
  • During the temporary closure, Y staff have been diligently cleaning and sanitizing work spaces, tables, chairs, carpets, high traffic areas, locker rooms, gym spaces, and fitness equipment.
  • They have been creating a healthy environment that allows for physical distancing and proper sanitization.
  • They are also developing protocol and procedures for their reopening.
  • They will reopen the facility when the board and leadership team has determined that is safe to do so with the necessary requirements in place.
  • The Y may look a bit different when it is time to return, but you can be sure that their mission and values remain the same.
Church Reopening
We know some are excited and others maybe a bit fearful of the thought of attending church services in person and want you to know we are being careful when and how we choose to reopen.
  • As required by the Governor's "Stay at Home" executive order, the Fergus Falls YMCA is temporarily closed through May 17, 2020. However, we have been in communication with the YMCA, and they are currently working on the initial plan for opening.
  • Most rental groups won't be able to hold meetings, but they think Calvary Chapel will definitely be able to because we are a small church. One of the benefits of being a small church.
  • I had a discussion with the Fergus Falls Chief of Police who said “I cannot tell you it’s okay to go against the [Governor's] order, but just that we are not going to interfere with your decisions”.
  • I also talked with the city Mayor who said “The city council will be considering a resolution supporting local reopening. I am also advocating more autonomy over these decisions at the local level as we move forward.”
  • These conversations took place after a Zoom meeting with our local Mayor, Chief of Police, & many of our city Church Leaders. It was a productive meeting about when churches reopen to do so safely with wisdom as we follow the CDC guidelines.
  • Therefore, we will keep you updated on a return date for church services.
Information on Attending a Church Service at the YMCA
We do ask that as the YMCA reopens, and we meet again for church services that if any of the following is true please stay at home to avoid spreading COVID-19:
  1. Have travelled to an area known for outbreaks outside the USA over the past 14 days?
  2. Have had close contact with a person or source of COVID-19?
  3. Have had a fever of 100.4˚F or higher within the past 24 hours and acute respiratory illness with one or more of the following: cough, sore throat, runny nose, nasal congestion.
If you answer “yes” to any of the questions, we respectfully ask that you refrain from visiting at this time. You've heard us say it before that if you're every feeling sick anytime of the year please stay home, rest, drink water, and recover.
  • If you have had an acute respiratory illness including a fever and one of more of the following: cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, runny nose, nasal congestions you should stay home and self-quarantine for 7 days after the illness onset, and wait for an improvement of respiratory symptoms.
If you answer “no” to all three questions you are welcome to join us for church services when we resume.
  • We will practice social distancing when possible, and will have chairs setup in a circle format.
  • We are temporally suspending the practice of shaking hands. Instead, offer a friendly greeting and a smile.
  • Communion which we usually have together the first Sunday of the month will be provided prepackaged and prefilled to limit contact.
  • Fellowship Snacks may or may not be provided, and we will assess this weekly. Please eat a healthy meal before attending church services.
  • If desired, use a face mask or face covering, currently this is optional and not required.
Again, we know some are excited and others maybe a bit fearful of the thought of attending church services in person, and we want you to know we are being careful when and how we choose to reopen. There is no pressure to join us as always, and there is no shame in staying home either.

So, for individuals who feel unsafe to attend a church service in person you are most welcome to join us online from home to minimize chances of exposure. We are currently waiting on more Audio & Video equipment to help us live steam our church services for this option.

We appreciate your help and your patience as we all play the waiting game for what we will be able to do. Your safety is our priority, and we hope this information helps calm any fears you may have had, and we'll keep you updated soon on when our first Sunday back at the YMCA will be. Thanks for your prayers and support!

Pastor Tim Molter

“And this I pray, that your love may abound still
more and more in knowledge and all discernment,
that you may approve the things that are excellent,
that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ,
being filled with the fruits of righteousness which
are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.”
—Philippians 1:9-11
